Dr. David Hettinger of Hettinger Podiatry Center in Wheaton has been practicing podiatric medicine in a private practice setting since 1986. In 1992, he opened his Wheaton office and has been in his current location in the Danada area since 1996. Prior to opening his own practice, he worked at the Foot Care Center in Oak Park and Harwood Heights. In 1985,

Dr. Hettinger graduated from the Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine in Chicago. He completed his surgical residency at Westside V.A. Hospital in 1986.

Board certified podiatrist

Dr. Hettinger is a fellow in the Academy of Ambulatory Foot and Ankle Surgery. He is Board Certified, American Board of Multiple Specialties in Podiatry, in the categories of Surgery as well as Primary Care in Podiatric Medicine. He has lectured at podiatry conferences in London, England and the United States. The doctor has also written a chapter of a medical textbook, Procedures in General Practice, regarding radiowave surgery techniques. He has authored or co-authored nine published research papers on medical or surgical procedures. He is a member of the Illinois Podiatric Medical Association and the American Podiatric

Medical Association.

Minimal incision surgery

Dr. Hettinger specializes in minimal incision surgery techniques whereby a small incision needing no stitches is made. The patient usually has less recovery time and is able to return to normal activities sooner. Dr. Hettinger has surgical privileges at Oak Brook Surgery Center in Oak Brook and Loyola Ambulatory Surgery Center in Oak Brook Terrace and he is also on staff at Weiss Memorial Hospital in Chicago.

Active community member

Dr. Hettinger is very active in the Wheaton community. He has served as lead chairman of Wheaton's Autumn Fest for six years. He has served as president of the Wheaton Chamber of Commerce, as well as participating in numerous other functions and committees. In November 2004, he was awarded the Ronald A. Brinkman Award, one of the most prestigious awards given by the Chamber "For outstanding services to the Wheaton Chamber of Commerce by his dedication, talents and enthusiasm, thereby enriching the City of Wheaton and its residents."

 

Dr. Hettinger has also been a member of the Board of the United Way, Wheaton / Carol Stream. He has coached softball in the Briarcliffe and Wheaton Park District teams and also has enjoyed teaching Junior Achievement classes at a local school. Dr. Hettinger conducts an ongoing shoe drive to benefit the less fortunate.

 

Dr. Hettinger is married with two children and enjoys fishing and softball in his spare time.
